We are excited to share a new publication by EMiB member Pierre Dehalu on the topic of Charlemagne. His work is first of all the fruit of a journey, of enriching encounters in the heart of the Meuse Region. It is not strictly speaking a history book; there are already many excellent biographies dedicated to Charlemagne. The subject of this book is more oriented towards the character, his myths and his mysteries, as they are lived and experineced by the people of the Meuse Region. It takes you through various forms of local history, cultural associations, shows, folklore, walks, legends, and food products, and involves characters just as mysterious, earthy and full of charm as Charlemagne himself, such as the horse Bayard, the Four Aymon Sons, the enchanting Maugis, Roland, Olivier, Berthe au Grands Pieds, but also Tchantchès, Nanesse and many more.
Does this subject interests you? Do you want to talk about it, exchange ideas and stories, and share a little bit of this roaming on the roads from the comfort of your own home? Do you want to buy the book? Do not hesitate to contact Pierre by mail via dehp4@hotmail.com.
