One of the founding reasons of the European Movement is to promote citizens’ participation in the EU. Europe will be made with and for citizens: it is our common project. The future of Europe, what we should do together and how we should do it, can and should be debated upon. That is why we are committed to our programme We, European Citizens. Are you ready to join the debate?
On the 9th of May, all of Europe celebrates Europe Day. Each year, the European institutions in Brussels use this opportunity to organise an open day. The EMiB, together with JEF Belgium is often present with an interactive stand, where you can get to know the EU, us, and meet a whole lot of Belgian MEPs who pass by our booth. Join us on the next 9th of May, Europe Day!
The European Movement is committed to promoting a free and united Europe. Therefore, in cooperation with different partners, such as the representations of other EU countries in Brussels, we organise both expert debates and cultural evenings that allow us to discover Europe and foster transnational exchange among citizens and representatives from all across the EU. Unity in diversity indeed!
The European Movement also works outside the “Brussels bubble”. The Café Europa events are low-key evenings of debate and discussion on European issues with an invited speaker — a politician, an expert, a journalist — around an informal drink. During the pandemic, we switched online and created the EU and Me video series. Check them out!
The European Movement in Belgium is proud to announce its participation in the “Together for Europe” programme, coordinated by the European Movement International.
Under the heading “YOU’re Europe” – 'you are Europe', but equally it’s 'your Europe' — a number of activities will be organized focusing on the economic impact of the single market. Remember, the single market is 30 years old this year!
You can find all inforation on the YOU're Europe project here.
